Amalgam-free practice

We do not place amalgam in our practice. Since 2025 amalgam has largely been banned in the EU anyway. We chose modern, well-tolerated alternatives long before that.

01

The alternatives

For fillings we use tooth-coloured composites and glass ionomer cements, for larger defects inlays made of ceramic or gold. Which solution fits depends on the size and position of the defect and on your wishes.

02

Replacing old amalgam fillings?

Intact amalgam fillings do not necessarily have to be removed. If a filling is defective or you want it replaced, we use protective measures such as suction and rubber dam to keep vapours and particles to a minimum.
