Jaw joint therapy (TMD)

Clicking in the jaw, morning headaches, a stiff neck or worn-down teeth: behind this there may be a temporomandibular disorder (TMD), a malfunction in the interplay of jaw, muscles and teeth.

01

Typical complaints

Many people grind or clench at night without noticing. The consequences range from sensitive teeth to jaw joint pain and headaches, ear or neck pain. Stress often plays a major role.

02

Thorough diagnosis

We examine the jaw joints, muscles and bite, ask about your daily life and look at the wear marks on your teeth. That way we find out what triggers the complaints.

03

Therapy with a splint

A custom-fitted splint relieves joints and muscles and protects the teeth from further wear. Depending on the findings, additional physiotherapy can be useful. We tell you when.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to wear the splint every night?

Usually yes, especially at the beginning. For how long depends on your complaints.

Does the splint help against snoring?

A normal splint does not. There are separate solutions for snoring, such as NightLase laser therapy.

Does insurance pay for the splint?

If medically necessary, German statutory insurance covers a basic splint.
